Greener Pastures Horse Rescue Foundation was formed in 1981, when H. Elizabeth "Liz" Munson rescued 37 horses who were being starved to death. Through the non-profit program, Liz provides veterinary care, shelter, proper diet and above all, compassion and her tender loving care for the sick, injured, abused, aged, abandoned and unwanted horses. Liz is an ardent horse advocate and has made countless personal sacrifices to care for these horses. Liz states, "Some people look at horses and just see dumb animals. But the difference between horses and humans is that horses don't talk, but they do have a language between themselves. They feel, they love, they are loyal and they are God's creations, just like you and me."

Greener Pastures Horse Rescue Foundation is a 501 c (3) Non-Profit Organization. All donations are tax deductable! GPHRF relies on donations and volunteer help.
One of our goals is to educate the community about the importance of proper care and the consequences of neglect to horses through community programs and organizations. GPHRF hopes to also raise awareness on the issue of horse slaughter.
