HORSES LOOKING
 FOR SPONSORS

Our sponsorship program allows our residents to have a special friend, someone who can groom, give him/her extra attention and treats that they enjoy so much. You can sponsor a horse for $40.00 per month. This money will help towards the cost of his/her care and feeding. With this donation you will be given a picture and certificate of your sponsor horse. We also offer a foster home program for some of the residents and their special friends.

5 year old APHA sorrel overo gelding. Chester was diagnosed with EPM (equine protozoal myeloencephalitis) as a weanling. Due to his bloodlines his previous had great expectations for him and had insured him at birth for a substancial amount of money. Fortunately the veterinarian that was treating Chester knew about us and suggested to the owners that they donate Chester to Greener Pastures instead of euthanizing him. A number of insurance companies will give a choice of euthanizing or donating the horse to a horse rescue foundation and they will still pay the amount the horse is insured for which was the case for Chester. Chester has undergone some of the treatments for EPM and is now a happy, healthy fun loving life at Greener Pastures. He loves people and especially loves peppermint candy.

"Polly" is a big Thoroughbred mare that was a "lessons horse" for a number of years after retiring from the track. She is a very sweet and gentle mare who loves attention and being groomed. Polly is recovering from seedy toe and requires her feet tended quite often.

These three big nice boys, "Cajun", "Biggin" and "Fly", are all Thoroughbred geldings that fractured a sesamoid while racing and were rescued by GPHRF. They are enjoying their new life of leisure but still like to have a lot of attention.
